A full day of Mardi Gras themed events is on the agenda for March 2, 2019, when the Carnegie Visual Arts Center holds its annual Carnegie Carnival. Now in its eighth year, Carnegie Carnival fills the city’s historic downtown area with parades, crewes, floats, throws, music, a Cajun cook-off, and other family fun, all while promoting art and creativity.
Downtown Decatur is ready to paint the town green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with plenty of fun and entertainment that everyone can enjoy. Set for Saturday, March 16, 2019, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl offers music, activities for children and dining in locally owned restaurants.
Downtown Decatur’s 3rd Friday takes to the streets each 3rd Friday April-October. As attendees enjoy the downtown ambiance, live music and special activities! Festivities get underway at 5:30 p.m. While antique cars line up for viewing on 2nd Avenue, some of the area’s best musicians and entertainers will be performing at various locations in the downtown area.
The Downtown Decatur Merchant and Business Association works to maintain downtown as the center of commerce, government, culture and leisure. DDMBA members support the overall vitality of downtown through public advocacy and community events that enhance the Decatur experience for residents and visitors.
